Another subscription? I’m afraid so. EA Play is Electronic Arts’ subscription service offering a game catalog, trials of some releases, discounts, and rewards across franchises such as EA SPORTS FC, Battlefield, Madden NFL, and Apex Legends.

It’s not the same as Game Pass or PlayStation Plus: EA Play has its own catalog and its own rules. That said, if you already pay for PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you already have EA Play included on the platforms covered by each plan. On PlayStation, EA Play is a separate subscription and isn’t included with PlayStation Plus.

  • The good: lots of EA games for relatively little money if you like its franchises, plus a 10% discount on digital EA purchases.
  • The bad: it’s focused on EA games, and EA Play purchased directly doesn’t carry over between platforms. Having EA Play on Xbox doesn’t automatically give you EA Play on PS5 or PC.

Plans and pricing (September 2026)

EA offers two plans:

  1. EA Play: the standard plan, available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
  2. EA Play Pro: the premium plan, exclusive to PC through the EA app, with access to an expanded library and certain releases included with the service.

Up-to-date catalog and terms: official EA Play website.

PlanPriceCatalogNew releases
EA Play€5.99/month (€39.99/year)EA game catalogEarly access trials
EA Play Pro€16.99/month (€119.99/year)Expanded PC catalogFull access to certain releases

The key difference is how new releases are handled. With standard EA Play, you get early access trials for some new games, while Pro, on PC, lets you play the included titles from launch without having to buy them separately.

Important: the subscription doesn’t carry over between platforms. If you play on Xbox and PlayStation, you’ll need EA Play on each one, although on Xbox you can have it included with Game Pass.

Standard EA Play

  • EA game catalog that changes over time.
  • Trials of some new games before buying them.
  • 10% discount on digital EA purchases on that platform.
  • Member rewards in selected games and seasons.

It’s a good fit if you play EA franchises but don’t need every release on day one. If you’re planning to buy FC or Battlefield and also tend to pick up digital content, the 10% discount can help offset the subscription cost.

EA Play Pro

Designed for PC, through the EA app, and for players who want to play several EA releases each year in their full versions, including higher editions in some cases.

The price jump is significant, so it’s worth comparing it with buying the games individually. If you just want to try FC or play a few hours of a Battlefield that’s already in the catalog, standard EA Play will usually be enough.

Included catalog

It includes dozens of games, from EA SPORTS FC, F1, and Madden to Battlefield, The Sims, Dragon Age, and other EA titles. The selection changes over time, so it’s worth checking the catalog before subscribing. You can do this on the official website, which provides an overview by subscription type and platform.

FAQ

Which platforms can I get EA Play on?

Standard EA Play is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. On PC, you can subscribe through the EA app, Steam, or Epic Games Store, while on consoles it’s purchased through their respective stores.

On PlayStation, EA Play isn’t included with PlayStation Plus: they are two separate subscriptions. You can subscribe to EA Play without having PS Plus, although you’ll need PS Plus to play certain games online.

Does an EA Play subscription work across multiple platforms?

If you subscribe to EA Play directly, no. The subscription is tied to the platform where you purchase it. Having EA Play on Xbox doesn’t automatically give you EA Play on PC or PlayStation.

The exception is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which includes EA Play on both Xbox and PC as part of the same subscription.

Is EA Play Pro available on PS5 or Xbox?

No. EA Play Pro is exclusive to PC and is subscribed to through the EA app. On PS5 and Xbox, only standard EA Play is available.

How does EA Play work with Game Pass?

It depends on the plan. PC Game Pass includes EA Play on PC, while Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes EA Play on both Xbox and PC.

So, if you play on Xbox and PC and have Game Pass Ultimate, you don’t need to subscribe to EA Play separately on either platform.

EA Play Pro isn’t included with Game Pass. It’s a separate plan and is exclusive to PC.

In summary

  • You want a catalog and trials without worrying about playing on day one: standard EA Play.
  • You play on PC and want several EA releases each year: compare EA Play Pro with buying the games individually.
  • You already have PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate: standard EA Play is already included.
  • You only play FC or Battlefield for a couple of months: you may not need to keep the subscription all year. The 10% discount can also be useful if you end up buying the game.
  • You mainly play on PlayStation: compare the cost of standard EA Play with simply buying the games you’re interested in.

And remember the most important thing: EA Play purchased directly doesn’t carry over between platforms. If you want it on Xbox and PC with a single subscription, the option is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which includes EA Play on both platforms.
