State of Play 3 Sep 2026: dates and highlights

Sony ran two broadcasts on 3 September 2026 back to back: an international State of Play, then State of Play Japan. More than thirty games with trailers, release dates, and a few genuine surprises. Here’s the roundup in English; the official source is the PlayStation Blog recap.

Several games in this roundup are already on our release calendar, especially those with a confirmed date.

Schedule

Both shows started at 3:00 p.m. BST (4:00 p.m. CEST / 10:00 a.m. ET). English audio on YouTube and Twitch; the Japan block aired in Japanese with English subtitles.

Highlights

1. Final Fantasy VII Revelation — Square Enix closed the show with a release date and extended gameplay. Out 8 April 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC.
2. Until Dawn 2 — Firesprite locks in 28 January 2027 on PS5. More trailer footage with choices and consequences at Blackwood Sanitorium and Akishima Island.
3. Metro 2039 — 4A Games shows PS5 Pro gameplay and confirms 4 February 2027.
4. Marvel’s Wolverine — Launch trailer: global release 15 September 2026 (two weeks out from the event).
5. Maneater 2 — Surprise Tripwire sequel; man-eating shark in a private theme park; 2027 on PS5.
6. Rhapsody in Scarlet — Konami blends 1920s New York, jazz, and magical beasts; action on PS5.
7. Gundam Rogue Orbit — 5 March 2027; fast combat and mobile suit customization.
8. Ghost of Yōtei — Most Wanted mode and Echoes of Sekigahara expansion on 1 October as part of the Complete Edition.
9. Final Fantasy Resonance — First-chapter demo on PS Store the same day; Sephiroth as an optional challenge.
10. Keeper — Double Fine adventure available on the day of the show on PS5.
